Office 2011 comes with a new "activation PIN" that must be activated by the sale merchant (similar to how a giftcard will not work unless they scan it at the register). First, there are widespread issues with product activation.

There are two glaring issues, however, that would lead me to STRONGLY advise against purchase of the software at this time. The program is cleaner in appearance and much faster to load. Office 2011 has a number of new, very useful features, and is a refinement over the previous edition of Office for Mac. I still may download iWork since it only costs $20 per app. I would recommend this to anyone who needs Office. Luckily, my school lets me download it for a whole semester for free.

I had to install Windows on my Mac (using a virtual machine) and install Microsoft Office onto it.
I have an online college course which requires Microsoft Office however, it doesn't like using the Mac version. The only problems I have with this is that it is really pricey and it has been useless a couple times.
They put their grading comments all over them and send them back to me. I usually save it in Word Document and send my papers to my teachers who have PCs. This the option to save as a Word Document, or specifically in Word 97-2004, Rich Text Format, Plain text, PDF, etc. I usually turn to this if I want to create anything on paper.Īnyone who is concerned if this will save in the same format as Windows, then no need to worry because it does. This also has many templates to choose from such as resumes, calendars, menus, invitations, certificates, and much more. I don't have much of a hard time finding the things I need to develop my documents.
A week later I found iWork under the App Store, Duh! but oh well.Īfter giving this a try, I would say it is almost exactly like the PC version. I originally wanted to give Apple's iWork products a try, so I went to BB in search of it with no success so I purchased this. I've used Microsoft Office products for about 10 years however, I made the switch from PC to Mac this past Christmas. I admit, I was a bit worried when purchasing the suite because of reviews - but please, don't be! :) Although it does beat Apple's mail program, mail works just fine. Lastly - don't pay the extra $80.00 for outlook.

Also - I didn't think I'd like the full screen mode - I was wrong! Awesome :) The similarities between windows office (which is usually better) and mac office is amazing. Most people probably don't care - but to me, it's all the difference :) Ribbon interface is awesome. Also, Cambria was the same, but the bold/italic didn't work properly because it wasn't a registered font on the mac. Hasn't quit once, and although most people probably don't care - incase you didn't notice with office 2008, many fonts that were on windows, like Calibri, were different on the mac. Activation took 3.5 seconds (timed) and it was ready to use. People claim that activation doesn't work, and that the stability (meaning the program will quit unexpectedly) is completely not true.
I purchased this product with confidence that it would work properly - regardless of what other reviews said on Amazon.
